14.09.06 Grading Game 1 v Ginger Ventus: Windhill Wanderers playing there first game set tongue's wagging with this tremendous performance in the first grading game. Craig Hogan set the ball rolling scoring the teams first 4 goals and after a shaky middle of the first half and some great saves from keeper Aaron Stoney, Windhill went in at half time 7-4 to the good. Windhill went from strength to strength and 5 minutes into the second half you got the feeling it was just a question of how many goals they would win by, 2 further goals from Hogan with Chris Saville scoring 3, Jack Halliday & Liam Smith with 2 and 1 each for Jonathan Fawcett and Matthew Marshall secured Wanderers a 15-7 win, the score could have been embarrasing if it wasnt for the heroics of the oppositions keeper.

Team Lineup: Aaron Stoney, Johnny Fawcett, Matthew Marshall, Cameron Rooke, Liam Smith, Chris Saville, Jack Halliday & Craig Hogan.

21.09.06 Grading Game 2 v Ring O'Bells: Windhill made one change from the previous week with Adam Flaxington coming in for his debut replacing Liam Smith who was away on international duty. Playing only there second game things didnt look good as Windhill went 1-0 down early on and were chasing the game through till half time where they went in at 5-4 down. Windhill scored straight from the 2nd half kick off with there best move to date, passing through the defence like it wasnt even there, Jack Halliday, Chris Saville and then Craig Hogan with the finish completed the move as Windhill got back into the game at 5-5. The opposing team were trying to bully Wanderers with there dirty tactics but Jonathan Fawcett, Matthew Marshall, Adam Flaxington & Cameron Rooke were keeping things steady at the back with some resolute defending infront of an active Aaron Stoney. But the opositions bullish aproach backfired as one of there team injured himself commiting a foul. Windhill then stepped up a gear and went into a 9-7 lead but then sloppy defending let the opposition get one back and then equalise straight from the restart. Windhill brought Hogan and Saville from the bench and they combined with 45 seconds remaining to score what turned out to be the winner, Hogan ran down the left and squared to an unmarked Saville to give him an easy tap in. You could now feel the tension but this was greatly relieved when Jack Halliday pounced on a defensive error to put the result beyond doubt. Goals were scored by Hogan (4), Saville (4) & Jack (3). So, the grading games are completed and Windhill have a 100% record, a great start by the boys and they now look forward to there first season in Super League Division 2

Team Lineup: Aaron Stoney, Jonathan Fawcett, Matthew Marshall, Cameron Rooke, Adam Flaxington, Chris Saville, Jack Halliday & Craig Hogan.

28.09.06 League Game 1 v The Marsh: After the turmoil of midweek which resulted in Cameron Rooke going AWOL and Matthew Marshall ending up in hospital after having his drink spiked it was good to get away from what the media had dubbed a footballing circus by letting our football do the talking. Windhill made one change with the AWOL Cameron Rooke who is awaiting a decision from the clubs displinary board replaced by Jason Stoney, Stoney father of Aaron created history by becoming the first Father/Son combination to play for Windhill Wanderers. Stoney Snr even took Stoney Jnr's position of keeper with Aaron playing outfield for the first time. Both teams started quite conservativly with the game remaining scoreless for the first 7 minutes or so, Windhill then started to crank things up a notch hitting three quickfire goals with a deflected Chris Saville strike sandwiched inbetween two efforts from Craig Hogan, the halftime whistle went with the score at 3-1. Both keepers have been very busy so far making some brilliant saves with The Marsh's keeper slighty busier, Wanderers started the second half well with two goals from man of the match and team gay boy Adam Flaxington. The Marsh hit back with two goals of there own but further strikers from Chris Saville (2) Jack Halliday & Aaron Stoney put the result beyond doubt with the game ending 9-3. The performance wasnt great but the result is all that matters and Windhill are sat in 2nd place on goal differance after there first game and are joint top with three other teams on maximum points.

Team Lineup: Aaron Stoney, Jason Stoney, Jonathan Fawcett, Matthew Marshall, Adam Flaxington, Chris Saville, Jack Halliday & Craig Hogan.

05.10.06 League Game 2 v Hurricanes: Unbeaten Windhill went into there second league game with two changes from the previous week, Aaron Stoney was out with a virus and Adam Flaxington was attending a gay rights parade. Liam Smith was available after being away for two weeks on international duty with San Marino, and Cameron Rooke was back in the squad after resolving his dispute with the club over pay. Windhill were also boosted by news of Hurricane's first choice keeper picking up an injury during the warm up. The Hurricanes rushed into a two goal lead before Chris Saville got one back for Windhill with a volley at the second attempt. The Hurricanes stepped up the pace and scored three more goals before half time without reply, they were defending very well and were not letting Windhill get many shots in on goal. The second half started nearly as badly as the first half finished with the opposition using there good passing skills to take the usually strong Windhill defence apart pushed further ahead and the result looked beyond doubt at 7-1. But Windhill do not give up so easily and a further two goals from Chris Saville pulled it back to 7-3 but after more weak defending Hurricanes scored a further two goals to make it 9-3. Again Windhill did not let there heads drop and replied with three goals of there own, Johnny Fawcett netting after a fine run from defence which was sandwhiched inbetween two Jack Halliday strikes made it 9-6 with 6 minutes to go. The game looked to be in reach but just as it looked as though Windhill could get something from a game which looked over, more sloppy defending allowed the opposition to make it 10-6 and this is the way the game ended. A disappointing result for Windhill as they looked to continue there unbeaten run but they can take positives from this game as Hurricanes were a very organised outfit and Windhill defended unusually badly so to only lose by a small margin is something to build on for seven weeks time when we face them again and try to enact some revenge.

Team Lineup: Jason Stoney, Johnny Fawcett, Matthew Marshall, Cameron Rooke, Liam Smith, Chris Saville, Jack Halliday & Craig Hogan.

12.10.06 League Game 3 v Ring O'Bells: Windhill went into the game with three of there regular team away in transfer talks with German team Borussia Monchengladbach, latest news is that these talks have broken down and the 3 players in question should be flying back to England and will be available for selection next week. Liam Smith missed the game after failing a late fitness test, so Windhill started to game with only two subs and also Chris Saville deputising in the unfamiliar position of goalkeeper. For the first 7 or 8 minutes the match remained goalless thanks a combination of slack finishing and good goalkeeping, then Ring O'Bells took the initiative scoring some quick fire goals to race into a four goal lead, despite this Windhill still looked the best passing team and were having most of the play. Rob Ward making his debut pulled one back just as all hope looked to have gone and then a Craig Hogan finish just before half time restored some believe back into the depleted Wanderers squad. So the second half kicked off with the score 4-2 to Ring O'Bells, a mix up in the Windhill defence let Ring O'Bells in for a soft goal straight after half time and all hope looked to have gone. But this team is not used to laying down and they started to stage a tremendous comeback, firstly as Windhill started to put the pressure on Craig Hogan blasted two strikes past the Ring O'Bells keeper and also hit the post with a tremendous curling shot. You could see the believe and hunger in the Windhill play and with 5 minutes left Matthew Marshall who had previously gone close with two fine efforts hit a rasping shot into the top corner of the net to equalize for Windhill. Meanwhile at the other end Chris Saville had to make some important save's and made a good account of himself in his first game as goalkeeper, Ben Fawcett who was also making his debut had struck up a great defensive partnership with name sake Johnny Fawcett, these two were marshalling the defence and looked a cut above from the previous weeks defensive debacle. Adam Flaxington typified the Windhill spirit, he was all over the pitch helping out with defensive duties and also at the heart of the creative element that Windhill were using to exploit their rivals.
The match was very tense at 5-5 and not long to go this match could go either way, Ring O'Bells then thought they had won the game when they scored at the near post but almost immediately the impressive and hard working Robert Ward struck from distance to level things up. Both teams were getting tired now and you got the feeling after being in the lead for most of the game Ring O'Bells would now be happy to settle for a point but Windhill wanted all three and deep into injury time Craig Hogan hit an unstoppable shot that fizzed past the goalkeeper. The whistle went shortly after for full time and Windhill had completed the greatest comeback in there history this has got to go down as there best ever performance, complete underdogs before the start of the game they showed there true spirit to claim a famous victory.

Team Lineup: Chris Saville, Adam Flaxington, Ben Fawcett, Jonathan Fawcett, Robert Ward, Craig Hogan & Matthew Marshall.

19.10.06 League Game 4 v City Hall Centurians: Windhill went into the game 5 positions above CHC and with renewed confidence after the great comeback win the previous week and with 7 of the 8 first team squad available. Rob Ward filled in for his second appearence in the famous white shirt with Matthew Marshall out with an ankle injury. Windhill got off to a good start after being awarded a penalty early on for a handball outside the box by the opposition keeper, Chris Saville stepped up to dispatch the penalty emphatically into the bottom corner. City Hall Centurians then first of equalised and incredibly took the lead after some poor defending, Windhill came straight back and equalised through Cameron Rookes first goal of the season. But again more poor defending and slack marking let in CHC to regain the lead, but as always you can never write this Windhill side off and they began to show there class and stepped up a gear to hit 5 quickfire goals to take a 7-3 lead into half time. The second half carried on as the first half left off with Windhill humiliating there opponents with their slick passing and keen eye for goal scoring a further 9 goals with only one let in at the other end, their were some very good team goals scored and a very flukey goal also scored by Johnny Fawcett which hit the back board and came off the keepers back and into the net. It was pleasing to see Windhill have goals in them from all over the pitch with all 7 outfield players scoring, the main plus point from this performance was the marking and defensive performance which gave Aaron Stoney in goal not very much to do, but when called upon he was ready and made two fine stops and his distibrution was first class all game. Windhill will be looking for a harder game next week as many of the players felt like they had barely used any energy to claim a final score of 16-4, goals scored by Chris Saville 3, Craig Hogan 3, Liam Smith 3 Jack Halliday 2, Rob Ward 2, Johnny Fawcett 2 & Cameron Rooke 1 made for good reading in the goal difference section of the league table and Windhill now sit 2nd, 3 points behind top side Hurricanes, level on points with 3rd place The Marsh, 6 in front of next weeks opponents Claretandbanter.co.uk and 9 in front of bottom side CHC.

Team Lineup: Chris Saville, Craig Hogan, Robert Ward, Cameron Rooke, Johnny Fawcett, Jack Halliday, Aaron Stoney & Liam Smith.

26.10.06 League Game 5 v Claretandbanter.co.uk: After coming back strongly from the defeat by Hurricanes, Windhill were looking for there 3rd win on the bounce but were rocked by the dissapearence of Liam Smith who had been so influential in the previous weeks win over CHC. Windhill went into the game with 7 players for only the 2nd time and found themselves behind early on, but strikes from Craig Hogan and Chris Saville put Windhill 2-1 infront. Claretandbanter came back again to level things up but Saville netted again to edge Windhill slightly ahead. The game was very tight and Claretandbanter were using some very dirty tactics to stay in the game, Hogan netted to put Windhill two up but back again came the opposition with a goal of there own, but straight from the restart a brilliant passing move was finished by Saville to move Windhill 5-3 ahead. Meanwhile at the back Aaron Stoney was having the game of his life with Windhills defensive frailtys starting to show he was keeping Windhill infront. It all started to go wrong for Windhill and Claretandbanter scored 4 goals without reply to move from 2 goals down to 2 goals up. We all know what Windhill are like when they are behind, they never know when they are beaton and just as it looked like Windhill would this time cave in they started a resurgence, Johnny Fawcett and Cameron Rooke started to look a little more solid and were commanding at the back and Jack Haliday pulled one back for Windhill with a solo strike. 7-6 to claretandbanter and you could see they were rattled, yet again they were resorting to dirty play with fouls on Hogan and Halliday within 30 seconds of each other. With 5 minutes Craig Hogan scored to make it a very nervy finished and then with just over a minute left Hogan scored his 4th goal of the game to send the Windhill faithfull wild. If only they could hold on for 1 minute, they would have claimed another famous comeback victory but it wasnt to be as with the last kick of the game the opposition scored from a tight angle to tie the game up at 8-8. It felt like a defeat for the players but there is some comfort in the fact that Windhill yet again didnt hit top gear but were dissapointed not to win.

Team lineup: Aaron Stoney, Matthew Marshall, Johnny Fawcett, Cameron Rooke, Jack Halliday, Chris Saville & Craig Hogan.

02.11.06 League Game 6 v Rawdon Soft: Windhill made two changes from last weeks dissapointing draw with Claretandbanter, with Robert Ward and Adam Flaxington coming into the side with Cameron Rooke out with a sore anal passage. Windhill started brightly and sent the fans wild with there slick passing play, at one point making 20 to 30 passes, but they were finding goals hard to come by but went 1-0 up through a Jack Halliday strike, but then unbelievably straight from the kick off Rawdon equalised through a Jack Halliday own goal, he turned from hero to zero in a matter of seconds. Two brilliant saves from Aaron Stoney kept Windhill level and then they started to turn the screw and made there possesion count hitting 3 quick goals through Craig Hogan, Robert Ward & Matthew Marshall. But again Windhill hit a slippy patch with Jonathan Fawcett getting in a muddle at the back and Rawdon brought the score back to 4-2 just before half time. The first 5 minutes of the second half were quite cagey before Chris Saville came on for Windhill to fire a stunning shot into the bottom corner to make it 5-2. Windhill started to regain there confidence and were making a mockery of Rawdon with brilliant passing yet again ripping them apart, Craig Hogan firing a second half hatrick to stun Rawdon and send Windhill 6 goals clear of the opponents, Windhill missed further chances with some stunning saves from the Rawdon keeper keeping the score down. This was Windhills most mature performance to date, and showed the real quality that is within this squad. Adam Flaxington picked up his second Man of the match award for a brutal tackle in the second half which left him and his opponent needing medical attention.

Team Lineup: Aaron Stoney, Matthew Marshall, Jonathan Fawcett, Adam Flaxington, Chris Saville, Jack Halliday, Robert Ward & Craig Hogan.

09.11.06 League Game 7 v The Travellers: Bla di bla bla windhill won, everyones hero sav scored 5, thankyou come again.

16.11.06 League Game 8 v The Marsh by Jack Halliday: Windhill shrunk to a disappointing 4-4 draw against the mediocre Marsh on Thursday, as the Windhill side did not look to be on top form once again. The squad seemed to be the stronger looking side on paper but unforeseen circumstances were not taken into consideration. Cameron Rooke, Windhill’s strong speedy center half was hardly able to walk after coming straight from a pre match party in Bradford. He was doubtful after a recent anal injury but didn’t do himself any favours by turning up rat arsed. The team was ready for kick off but unfortunately a rare mistake by Jack Halliday let the Marsh take the lead with a tap in. The game was a true nail biter and left the Windhill fan club without finger ends due to tense end-to-end football. Windhill deservedly kept the Marsh trailing until a horrible foul on team star Jack Halliday left Windhill disposed and drawing with the dirty Travs team. We would like the put the point across that the goal was not Jack Hallidays fault at all it was a rash and horrible call from the ref that left Windhill without the extra needed 2 points from this fixture. The game finished 4-4 and reporter state that tempers soared between Chris Saville and the defending wonder Jack Halliday which ended in a fisticuffs match with Mr Halliday undoubtedly coming out on top. Windhill will need to prove themselves against high flyers Hurricanes if their promotion dreams are to come true.

23.11.06 League Game 9 v Hurricanes by Jack Halliday: A tough challenge was ahead for the Windhill to overcome the highflying Hurricanes and secure the three points needed to keep the promotion candle a light. A strong side was put out against the undefeated team, which looked to be the only side challenging the Hurricanes. The game started strong with Windhill Wanderers Craig Hogan hitting the post two minutes in to the long awaited match. Jack Halliday commanded the defence whilst Chris Savel, Rob Ward and Craig Hogan put pressure on the oppositions slack defending. However one of the rival players had showboating on the brain and nutmeged Rob Ward several times. Substitutes had to be made and the two threatening player Chris Savel and the nearly 24 year old Craig Hogan were taken off of the field of play due to a needed rest. A goal was instantly hit past Aaron Stoney who mysteriously brought both left handed goalie gloves! Another 3 were shot past the Windhill team, mainly scored by the Bradford Park Avenue player who pulled many tricks out of the hat to dismantle the normally strong Windhill side. The second half called for extreme work needed and it didn’t start well for the Windhill as the Hurricanes fired another two past the strong defence of Cameron Rooke and Jonathon Fawcett. Matthew Marshal was displaying good passing and after lots of hard work and unluckiness a string of pin point passes from Jack Halliday and Chris Savel gave the team a mere consolation goal. That wasn’t the end though deadly shots from Rob Ward Jack Halliday and Craig Hogan put Windhill straight back in the game with only a minute to go. Jack had a small chance of scoring but great keeping from the Hurricanes keeper kept the ball out of the net. There were chances all through the game but the luck just wasn’t with us on Thursday. Promotion hopes are still alive but the loss has made it much harder to get to the top flight. The next game against Ring’o bells is vital after this defeat.

14.12.06 League Game 12 v Claretandbanter by Cameron Rooke: Everyone thought that this match would be a big challenge, as it happens it was a walkover. The entire first 8 was out in full force with Rob Ward replacing serial pisshead Liam Smith permanently due to Liam’s (now Lauren’s) sex change. He now prefers ballet to football. From the off Windhill were solid and being egged on by Ben Fawcett from the sidelines. Windhill scored first, starting off the scoring with an early goal from Saville, from then on it was easy going, and at half time we were coasting along with Claret&Banter only scoring once more to make the score 9-2. All the beginning of the second half we were still going strong but a couple of subs were needed so team wonder kid Cameron had to come on to save the day with his amazing speed, infact, only one goal was scored against Windhill when he was on the field. But soon after he came off Claret&Banter scored there 4th but no worry for the Windhill lads because by this point the score was 10-4, however things were set to turn ugly when an opposition player decided to turn dirty! The young dynamic Matthew Marshall was through on goal and then he was viciously hacked down from behind on his ankles. The ref saw the incident and we were awarded a free kick, apart from that no more dirty tactics were used by the opposing team. So by the end of the game the team captain and manager Chris Saville had an impressive four goals to add to his tally, along with three for team joker Jack Halliday, three for designated driver Craig Hogan, three for team drunk Matthew Marshall and two for Liam’s (Lauren’s) replacement Rob Ward. Man of the match was awarded to the immense player that is Cameron Rooke. End score Windhill 15 Claret&Banter 4. A solid result all round.
